"Although most people consider tent caterpillars only as pests due to their habit of defoliating trees, they are among the most social of all caterpillars."

I have recast this sentence, which posits a nonexistent contrast between being pests and being social. I also dispute the assertion "most people consider tent caterpillars only as pests"; I would bet that most people have never heard of tent caterpillars at all. I think the original text was intended to mean something like "the best-known property of tent caterpillars is that they're pests, but they have many other interesting properties", which may be true but is not encyclopedic. jnestorius(talk) 06:55, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
