Thakin Po Hla Gyi (Burmese: ဖိုးလှကြီး; c. 1909–1943) was a Burmese oil worker and one of the leaders[2] of the Year 1300 Strikes against British colonial rule. The movement began in Magway in 1938 and 1939 and involved around 10,000 workers. In 1938 he wrote the pamphlet, "Thabeik Sit Pwe (The Strike War)" which was republished in 1968, and later translated into English in 2012.[3]
