Like the previous episode, the story of this episode was written by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko; meanwhile, the episode was written by Joshua Hamilton and directed by Ian Graham. The episode originally aired on Nickelodeon in the United States on September 13, 2013, immediately after the season premiere, "Rebel Spirit".
