Tom D. Kijiner is a Marshallese politician and former government minister.
Kijiner was born on 29 August 1945 in Likiep Atoll.[1] He studied in College of Guam and University of Hawaiʻi. He worked as a teacher and school principal.[1] He was 1974 to 1979 the representative of Likiep Atoll in Marshall Islands Congress.[2] He was then continuously elected to Nitijela from 1979 to 2003.[2]
Kijiner was appointed into several cabinet positions: Minister of Education from 1979 to 1984[2], Minister of Finance from 1984 to 1988[1], Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1988 to 1994[2] and Minister of Health and Environment from 1994 to 1999.[2] Later he received diplomatic duties as ambassdor-at-large from 2007 to 2009[3], and in 2012 he was appointed as the ambassador to Japan.
