Turkish football clubs have participated in European football competitions since 1956, when Galatasaray took part in the European Cup. In total, 34 Turkish clubs have participated in European competitions to date. The greatest success was achieved when Galatasaray won the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2000.[2]
