I'm on a mission to remove bias from university articles on Wikipedia, and to restore neutrality.
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not a collection of brochures and marketing materials.
Whenever I see "University so-and-so is among the most highly ranked in the world", or "among the most selective", it pains me. What is highly ranked? Top 10? Top 20? If you ask an alum of a university that's ranked 20th, they will tell you that still qualifies as "highly ranked". If you ask someone from their rival school, they'll tell you 20th does not qualify.
So what's the solution? The solution is to state INDISPUTABLE FACTS, such as "University so-and-so is ranked 20th." Period.
Please realize that I'm not trying to harm Wikipedia, or cause disruption. I am merely trying to settle this issue once and for all.
Thank you. Feel free to leave comments.
According to Wikipedia's University articles, every university in the world is 'among the most selective in the world'. This is the reason I am making these changes.
