The below list details what I consider to be my "strongest" conflicts of interest and their extent. As facts change, this page will be updated accordingly:
Academic
- University of Queensland - I completed my undergraduate studies here, and have begun doctorate-level research at the same institution. I also worked here in an administrative role briefly, but was not paid to edit Wikipedia on the University's behalf (and in fact was largely inactive here during my time working at UQ).
- I have the University's page on my watchlist, but have only ever edited it to fix typos and revert vandalism. I do not expect this to change.
- Robert Elson - Bob was in essence my supervisor during my Honours study in 2007, as well as having taught me at an undergraduate level over 12 months. I consider him a personal friend. He is not my PhD supervisor.
- Bob's page was created (in the main) by me several years ago before the COI policy was as strict as it is now - I would not create it now, were he my supervisor. As with UQ's page, it is on my watchlist but only ever edited when disrupted. Additionally, it is a very low-traffic page, and I do not anticipate it being a controversial one.
- At present, both my main and associate supervisors do not have their own Wikipedia articles. While one of the two is a leading scholar in his field and the other is something of a "rising star", I will not create or substantively edit (should they be created later) articles for either person during my time in the PhD program. I will review this position at the end of that process and adjust it accordingly.
- The above also applies to any other scholars associated with UQ.
- Over the course of my studies, I anticipate forming professional connections and possibly even friendships with scholars and/or political figures in Estonia and other European countries (as well as possibly the United States and Australia, depending on circumstances). Any and all such connections will be evaluated here as the need arises.
Political
- I am a member of a political party in Australia. I do not presently edit - and undertake not to begin to edit - articles connected with Australian politics in any substantive way (again, allowing for typo correction and the like). I respectfully decline to state the political party I am a member of, as this undertaking extends to any and all political parties and figures.
