The New Paltz Academy was a school in the village of New Paltz in Ulster County, New York. The earliest recorded school in New Paltz, it was founded around 1832 by a stock company. Prior to its existence, education in New Paltz was the informal responsibility of the local Dutch Reformed Church. The Academy's first principal was a local lawyer, Eliphaz Fay. The school served both the village and the surrounding town of New Paltz. It included an attached library.[1]
