Commander Charles F. Zirzow was born in Chicago, Illinois. He worked with the Naval Civil Engineering Corps from 1950 to 1967,[1] and in his last two years with the Corps served as the Assistant Chief of Staff to the Commander, United States Naval Support Force, Antarctica.[2] Mount Zirzow, a mountain in Antarctica, was named for him.[2]
