The Branning family is a fictional family from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, since 1993. Created by Tony McHale, the family originally consisted of Jim Branning (John Bardon) and his deceased wife Doreen "Reenie" (Joy Graham) and their six children, Carol (Lindsey Coulson), Derek (Terence Beesley, later Jamie Foreman), April (Debbie Arnold), Suzy (Maggie O'Neill), Max (Jake Wood) and Jack (Scott Maslen). Jim's second wife Dot (June Brown), Max's ex-wife Tanya (Jo Joyner) and Jack's recently divorced wife Ronnie (Samantha Womack) complete the main family.
Along with the main adult characters, are the younger cast, which includes Derek's children, Alice (Jasmyn Banks) and Joey (David Witts), Carol's children; Bianca (Patsy Palmer), Robbie (Dean Gaffney), Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) and Billie (Devon Anderson, later Bluey Robinson, and again Anderson). Suzy's children Rebecca (Alice Dawnay) and Kevin (Jamie Dispirito) appear as guest characters. Finaly, Max's children; the recently deceased Bradley (Charlie Clements), Lauren (Madeline Duggan, later Jacqueline Jossa), Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) and Oscar (Gabriel Miller-Williams, later Charlee and Neo Hall) and Jack's children, Penny (Mia McKenna Bruce) who is paralysed, Amy, Richard and the recently deceased James, who died from a cot death. Along with this is Bianca's children, as well as Dot's niece Dotty (Molly Conlin).
