This page is intended to detail any conflict of interest, or perceived conflict of interest, that could influence my editing, as well as documenting my commitment to adhering to WP's policies and community input, including WP:COI and WP:ADVOCACY.
I run my own business, which is not notable and has no competitors, so I have no professional COI. Prior employers largely fall into the same category; those employers who are notable I only worked for briefly as a "young adult", and the experience didn't leave me with an overwhelmingly positive or negative impression. In addition, I haven't edited in a related topic, and don't have plans to, since they don't interest me.
My interests in my personal life could influence my coverage of topics on wikipedia. This is true of every editor, and I do not believe the impulse to favorably portray my interests is any stronger in me than my colleagues. In all my editing, I take great pains to ensure my preferences don't conflict with my commitment to neutral editing, and if anything, I believe I overcompensate to correct that bias (which would not be a good thing, either! I can only do my best to address this.)
I don't have extensive knowledge of my genealogy, but I'm not aware of anyone notable in my family. I am not related to Michael E. Mann as far as I am aware. I've certainly never met or spoken with him, so I do not believe my occasional reference to him in the area of climate change - where he is a respected authority - to be a bias caused by our sharing a last name.
These are aspects of my life that could influence my editing: I am a computer programmer, I am involved in Real Estate, and I am a volunteer firefighter. I practice bjj, I fence, I dabble in photography, and I play chess. My girlfriend is a bellydancer. I've volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, a local ESOL program, and I have donated to the American Red Cross, Heifer, Doctors without Borders, and Kiva.
Here are a sampling of edits to topic areas where I could be seen as an advocate:
Those are the most accurate representations of my editing in these topics which, to the best of my ability, I could find.
My identity in real life is plainly listed on my user page, so my interests and history can be investigated by any other editor. Still, please don't "out" me by providing confidential or personal details on-wiki that I haven't already disclosed here.
Finally, If you have any questions or concerns about me or my editing, please ask.
