List of areas of Wikipedia that suffer from edit warring and disruptive editing along nationalist lines.
- Armenia and Azerbaijan, obviously. Several arbitration cases and the warring continues unabated, though with virtually everyone on revert parole and newcomers to the wars subject to the same restrictions, there are signs of order being restored. Also early History of Armenia (see Hurrians, Urartu, Mitanni, Armenian nationalism) and Ararat arev (talk · contribs) (Long term abuse and countless - literally - socks). Antiquity frenzy taken to extremes...
- Plenty of India (versus Pakistan), Hindu v. Muslim. Not that the Pakistani editors in this area exactly help themselves.
- Hindutva versus science (leaving the wars against Islam apart temporarily); Out of India theory and Aryan Invasion theory being prime targets. Notable for the extent to which the constant nationalist influx devoutly renounces any semblance of reason. From banned nutcases such as Hkelkar to throwaway SPA's such as Watch844 (talk · contribs), this area of the encyclopedia has lost control. See also Dbachmann's essay on Hindutva and pseudoscience. We have lost dedicated editors of Wikipedia fighting these trolls. (See User:Zora, User:Rama's Arrow, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Hkelkar 2)
- Macedonia, for obvious reasons. Nationalist Greeks abound in his area, not to mention the nationalists of seemingly everywhere else.
- Greek versus Turk (over Cyprus, amongst other things), with fellows such as GreekWarrior.
- Turk versus Kurd, plentiful disputes over Kurdistan.
- Not to mention Turk versus Armenian, reasons obvious.
- Irish versus British, though with increasing political stability in Northern Ireland this particular problem should decrease as the years go by.
- A scattering of American, with various editors on opposite sides of the political spectrum accusing the other of being less American than themselves. See also Nationalism in the United States and the the Waterboarding RFAR. "God and guns"?
- Eastern Europe, period: Russian-Polish (not aided by the fact that even the best editors in this area on each side of the disputes simply cannot seem to get along with each other).
- Russian versus Baltic, incessant disputes over WWII accompanied by frequent atrocity-counting in a grotesque rush of "Get victimhood status before it goes!", something more often seen outside Ikea on Boxing Day.
- Decent chunk of Assyrian nationalism and Aramaeanism,
Assyrian people now Assyrian/Chaldean/Syriac people and Chaldean Christians being prime places to watch, persons such as Nochi (talk · contribs) not exactly helping. See also a brief description on Friesian.
- The odd outright Neo-Nazi white supremacist can always be relied upon to turn up now and then to add to the merry mix.
- Bit of Dutch far-right crazy types on a whack-the-Muslims crusade. Nothing likely to resolve itself anytime soon.
- Palestinian/Israeli nationalism is a constant feature, reasons also obvious. See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Palestine-Israel articles and Wikipedia:WikiProject Israel Palestine Collaboration.
- Oh, and plenty of Catalan, everything from outright vandalism to arbitration cases.
- Not to mention Transnistria.
- Chinese versus Falun Gong - not quite proper nationalism, but the fights here display many of the same features.
- Chinese versus Taiwan
- UK regionalism: Scots nationalist, Welsh nationalist, and so on. English-specific nationalism also on the rise (see West Lothian question).
- Iranian versus Turan - is (insert historical figure here) Iranian or Turkic? Who decides? Who knows? Who cares? See Safavid dynasty for examples, not to mention Hephthalite - also the Azeri/Iranian conflicts, examples not hard to find.
- Korea versus Japan, who owns what? See Liancourt Rocks, arbitration case and plentiful edit-warring on-going.
- Nigh on every de facto country, so it seems, Abkhazia in particular. The revision history here consists largely of reverts. Other Georgia-related issues include South Ossetia - not to mention the Laz vandal (!).
- Ukrainian versus Russia, and vice versa.
- Sri Lanka: check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation.
- The Balkans boil down to this, roughly speaking: Greek versus Macedonian, Albanian versus Macedonian, Albanian versus Greek, Bulgarian versus Macedonian. Other contentious areas include Serb versus Kosovan and, as pointed out above, Greek versus Turk. Flashpoints include Macedonia naming dispute, Arvanites, Skopje, and Boris Sarafov. See here for more info.
- Italian versus Croat, and vice versa.
- Hungarian (vs Slovak and vice versa, see User:Elonka/Hungarian-Slovakian experiment), but also focussing on Hungarian prehistory (no, we're not descended from those miserable Finns, look at our glorious Sumerian past!)
- Muhammad and whether or not Muslim's to have no images of him trump wiki's no censorship policy
