I am a Srivaishnava Iyengar Brahmin from Karnataka. I am a civil engineer with over 62 years of professional experience in water resources engineering – 36 years with Government of India(including 3 years as lecturer in a private college) as a technocrat, and after retirement in June 1997, 22 years as a freelance consultant, mostly in the present Hydropower development boom under the private sector BOOT initiative in the Himalayan states of India and Nepal. My service life was eventful with concerted efforts to pursue a) completion of the most controversial Sardar Sarovar Project on the Narmada River, including defense of PILs in the Supreme Court, b) the landmark water treaties on the Mahakali River with Nepal and the historic Ganges Water Sharing Treaty at Farakka with Bangladesh and c) the UN Law on Non-Navigational uses of International Water Courses. My co-authored books and articles can be read on Google search.
I believe in the saying “To err is human but to forgive is divine”.
