12140Frederic Edward Mohs (March 1, 1910 – July 1, 2002) was a medical researcher and dermatologic surgeon who developed the Mohs micrographic surgery technique (commonly referred to as Mohs surgery) in 1936 as a research assistant at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.[1][2] Today, Mohs surgery is still recognized as the superior method for combating many types of high-risk skin cancers.[3]
