Welcome to my user page. More to come ... OK, not more to come. What do I put here? Let's see ... I like to write. I'm interested in people. I enjoy discovering something new about noteworty people, no matter how trivial. I like to travel and been all around the United States and to many countries. I want to visit Australia some day and travel through the Outback. I keep thinking of going to London. It has so much history and it seems like ever where you turn, there would be something of interest. Africa would be a great adventure. In Wikipedia, I usually split my time between writing/editing articles, commenting at XfD, and reviewing hooks and otherwise helping out at DYK, but have lent a hand in many other areas. I get a sense of satisfaction when others cite my XfD posts in support of their position. As for DYK, it feels good to help an editor get Main Page recognition for article they developed through hard work. Also, everyone there is friendly and hard working and together we've revised much of the DYK process to make it more automated. Occasionally, DYK and XfD has lead me to writing/editing a topic. If you have a topic in which you would like to see an article written, please let me know. I interested in everything, particularly topics with long forgotten or previously poorly researched history that is available to anyone with the desire to search at Google books. Through Google books, I located Image:TomCollinsOrigins.PNG, an old forgotten about news article that helps makes Wikipedia a great source of information on the origins of the Tom Collins cocktail. Also, Google books and other research helped me created my first GA article, Nassak Diamond. The Nassak Diamond article received 20,900 hits in its six hours on the Main Page and at one time was listed as #16 on all-time best of DYK. This Signpost article has inspired me to work towards bringing an article to FA status. Sometimes, I become very moved by something on Wikipedia and am compelled to assist in some way. The DYK Medal | ||
While the article has not yet graced the main page as part of DYK, I heartily salute your efforts to transform Tom Collins from a mere recipe to a truly-fascinating article about the century-long history and development of this cocktail, and the curious marketing program behind its popularity. I raise my Collins glass and offer this salute with a Tom Collins of my own (though a little lighter on the gin, it is only morning here). Keep up the great work.
