Bitch and Pups islands is the correct name for the location found at co-ords 34°56′39.4″S 143°20′8.4″E / 34.944278°S 143.335667°E / -34.944278; 143.335667. This is marked as it is an infamous section of river said to be impassable at low water because of the many reefs, snags, rocks and narrow passages. It is an old name believed to be refering to a mother (big island) and her pups (smaller islands & rocks)
