User:TopGun/Neutrality of sources

When Wikipedians are editing articles about controversial topics, such as factory farming, they often need to deal with sources that are reliable, but non-neutral.

On controversial topics, Wikipedians often need to read and use non-neutral reliable sources. Reliable sources are not required to be neutral. However, all Wikipedia articles – including those that cite non-neutral sources – are required to be neutral.

One good approach to this problem is to acknowledge that a controversy exists and to represent different reliable points of view according to the weight that reliable sources provide. Intelligent readers will weigh the prominence of opposing viewpoints and reach their own conclusions about how to balance aspects of the article.
