I got this idea from Matthew UND (a great editor, by the way). I just wanted a record of what Barnstars I had given out, and I want to make it clear that I don't give them out capriciously.
In the interest of avoiding any appearance of quid pro quo, I will never* accept a barnstar from someone to whom I have previously given a barnstar, nor will I ever issue a barnstar to anyone who has given me one previously. So don't give me any, or you won't ever get one from me! Cheers.
*Okay, there was one sorta kinda exception, where someone had given me one after I had already resolved to give him one, he just beat me to it, but it doesn't really count because I didn't give him a whole barnstar, but only half a barnstar, so that's my rationalization for contradicting myself within an inch of the above statement.

The Barnstar of Integrity
Though this happened over five years ago, I just read it now. While a comparison to Cincinnatus might be a bit over the top, it's still a sign of integrity, in my book, to give up power when you don't have to do so. Unschool 04:27, 18 November 2018 (UTC) |
I just now realize that this barnstar violates what I set out in my principles above, regarding quid pro quo on barnstars. But I think that the passage of 11 years proves an absence of corrupt intent (not that anyone would really care or notice). Unschool 04:40, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

I've long been a distant admirer of both your work and your temperament, Julian, so I can't say that I was actually "shocked" by this co-nomination after his !vote at your RfB. Still, I felt that your good grace—both at the RfB, and in nominating him—warranted at least a note of admiration, given how few people would do the same. Unschool 20:23, 25 July 2009 (UTC) |

Rectilinium, with your creation of new designs for The Graphic Designer's Barnstar, The Admin's Barnstar, The Space Barnstar, The Categorisation Barnstar, and the (as of yet unapproved) Userpage Barnstar, you have elevated the aesthetic expectations for barnstars to new heights. Knowing from personal experience that receiving a barnstar can actually inspire an editor to do a better job, I believe your designs will actually contribute to a better encyclopedia. I therefore award you this Barnstar Barnstar in recognition of the huge contribution you have made to WikiProject Wikipedia Awards. Rect, you're the best. Unschool 04:39, 29 May 2009 (UTC) |

I do hereby award the Rescue Barnstar to Michig, not only for the hard work and dedication he demonstrates in digging up sources to save articles from deletion, but also for his sense of evenhandedness. Michig is not a wild-eyed Inclusionist, but rather is a fair broker at AfD for all music-related articles (and more than a few others as well) who just happens to improve most everything he touches. Rock on, Michig. Unschool 20:03, 3 January 2009 (UTC) |

What a Brilliant Idea Barnstar
For articulating an idea that others had either never brought to the fore or had not even begun to formulate—the problem of the Plague of Tags—and for the impact that this idea has had on this Project. The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For reverting vandalism to my user page—a month ago—only four minutes after it occurred. (In fact, I just noticed it in the user history a few moments ago.) You know, I've never had the distinction of having my user page vandalized before, and with editors like you around, I guess I never have to worry about it. Thanks!
