hello Curps, quite a time nothing heard from you; still around ?? soon I may have some more information on Minor Planet Names, Desertsky

I'm still around, but took a break for a few weeks. Sure, let me know about your new information. -- Curps 09:58, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the message, nice coincidence: just now I saw that MP 73640 (1977RM) has gotten a final name : "BIERMANN" if you like you my add the name in the list of "my" planets. See wiki "Hans-Emil Schuster"

if any more news I will inform you, thanks again DESERTSKY 2005 July 20th

Not in astorb.dat yet (as of 19 july). Care to give us a copy of the MPC citation?
Urhixidur 12:30, 2005 July 20 (UTC)
Hi Urhixidur. I see it's in http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/lists/NumberedMPs70001.html (the Minor Planet Center website), as updated July 19. I think this is definitive. I'll go ahead and edit the relevant pages. Thanks for the update, Desertsky. -- Curps 12:44, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Curps, rapid and efficient reaction, thanks; also to Urhixidur for taking care; Desertsky , 2005 July 20th 14:45 GMT

OK, Desertsky. By the way, if you are in touch with Richard M. West, maybe suggest to him to name some of his later discoveries. :-) -- Curps 13:54, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Right, I will try to contact him; by the way, Richard is in retirement now, see you Desertsky

Curps, you missed the Meanings of asteroid names entries. I took care of those. Desertsky, for the aforementioned page, could you explain who this Biermann is?
Urhixidur 22:49, 2005 July 20 (UTC)

ref MP BIERMANN German astrophysicist Ludwig Biermann (1907-1986)

Desertsky; 2005 July 21 07:10GMT

Thanks for catching that omission, Urhixidur. I've now edited Meanings of asteroid names (73001-74000). We already have an article on Ludwig Biermann, but it's a bit of a stub, although there are external links to scientific journal articles that readers can use to learn much more about his career. -- Curps 10:25, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
