Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Comment
  1. What does IPTaggerBot do?
IPTaggerBot applies standardized shared IP templates to blocks of existing IP user talk pages for easier identification by administrators and other users.
  2. What is a shared IP address?
A shared IP address is an internet address that multiple users share. They can be static, in the case of educational institutions, where multiple computers at a school's network share the same internet address, or dynamic, in the case of internet service providers, where individual users share a pool of dynamic addresses.
  3. Why do shared IP address talk pages need to be tagged?
Most vandalism on Wikipedia comes from anonymous editors (IP addresses) and it is helpful for administrators and other users to know when the IP address is shared by multiple users.
  4. Can I help?
Yes, you can. Since this bot requires manual setup of the IP address blocks to be tagged, they must be identified first. If you know of a shared IP address block that should be tagged, please report it with a link to the IP WHOIS lookup at User talk:IPTaggerBot/Reports.
