How to write a topic..? Sorry, I'm new to Wikipedia. ya, anyways.. Hi, Kinu Panda! What a coincidence, my parents call me Panpan! It means panda too. My concern is on Meng Bie. She is actually my roommate. Let me give the reasons why her name should stay on wiki! She is an award-winning young poet, well known in her home country, China. The page is a translation of the facts. Her information is only available in Chinese for now. I guess it's good to have the English translation on wiki too. :) She is also the author of two books, column editor and writer for the UT Chinese Magazine. http://utchinese.org Info on her publications: http://www.hzsdyfz.com.cn:8088/Article/ShowArticle.asp?ArticleID=1741 The girl in white is her. http://book.douban.com/subject/6429500/ - that's her second book published this year. A famous R&B songwriter and singer actually wrote preface for her book! And this is his wiki page: http://zh.wikipedia.orgview_html.php?sq=Qlik&lang=&q=%E5%90%8E%E5%BC%A6 And these are her awards: First Prize in the Chinese National Mathematics Competition (high school session), 2005. One of the Best 10 Young Poets in the Grand China Literature, Painting, and Photography Contest, 2006. Gifted Poet in the Hubei Provincial Competition in School Publications, 2007. Please reconsider it! Thank you! Good night, Kinu :) Iosonosuri (talk) 04:26, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi there, There is a discussion related to an article that you had blocked the page creation. Appreciate your thoughts on this -- Tinu Cherian - 14:54, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

I had protected the article title after it was recreated as what was almost an attack page. As noted in the discussion, this article looks substantially different and appears much better sourced than the previously AfDed version. I've gone ahead and unprotected the previous location and have moved the article accordingly. --Kinu t/c 16:57, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Good afternoon. The article for The Yogscast has been deleted, with the rationale that it was an "Article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject." I recognize that the previous version might not have provided enough notability information, however that information is available. For instance, Edge Magazine is running an article about The Yogscast's growing influence in the gaming world. I have no personal interest in the subject, I just wanted to bring this article to your attention. Thank you! --- Stephen Goldmeier | Profile | Talk | (._.) | 19:21, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

I ran across this article after seeing the report on the creator at AIV, and must've AfDed it without recognizing that part of the disruption he was causing was the repeated PROD tag removal. You deleted an article I created for a well known satirical website here in Ireland called 'Waterford Whispers News. I'm just wondering why you deleted it as there are similar articles on satirical websites on Wiki:

Can you explain why my article was deleted and these ones were allowed?

  • The article did not contain a credible claim of importance and was deleted under speedy deletion criterion A7. Please note that the existence of other articles on a similar topic cannot justify the existence of others (nonetheless, the first one is possibly questionable; however, the second one is referenced and appears legitimate). --Kinu t/c 19:17, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

I saw you added {{external links}} to the Indiana House elections article. I assume your objection's to the relatively uncommon practice of having a whole load of little external links sections rather than one big one at the end? If so, I agree to an extent but would point out that all WP:EL has to say on the matter (unless I've missed something) is "If an article has external links, the standard format is to place them in a bulleted list under a primary heading at the end of the article." So it's standard practice but by no means a concrete requirement, and in this and similar articles I think smaller sections make it much easier for the reader to find specific campaigns' sites. (Also the second part of the template's problematic: hopefully we can agree there aren't any excessive or inappropriate links in need of removal.) Your thoughts? – hysteria18 (talk) 14:23, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

passing by, it's so much the standard practice that it amounts to an almost universally observed guideline. DGG ( talk ) 01:05, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Navbox
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

I saw your revert (and re-revert). I see the problem in {{Collapse top}} where the header is now only centered in IE. That could be easily fixed inline, though I am also not sure why archive templates are using the navbox class in the first place. Am I correct to asume the header is supposed to be centered? Edokter (talk) — 22:22, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

  • Correct, the header has always been centered, so I'm assuming that it still should be (I couldn't find any discussion indicating any sort of drastic stylistic change, and seeing as how it still does it in IE, I'm assuming there is none). I'm curious though... that template hasn't been edited in months, but I've only noticed the issue as of today... but I suppose it's best not to overthink this on my end. You seem to be have a better handle of the CSS here, so if you could have a go at fixing it, that'd be much appreciated! --Kinu t/c 22:28, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Oh, and in case more context would be helpful, the reason I noticed was because I use a custom version of a collapsible navbox (User:Kinu/TT+User:Kinu/TB) on my user and talk pages, and saw the broken centering there (the title has always been centered and I've never used a center tag). I'm guessing something that's referenced therein is what's broken. --Kinu t/c 22:34, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
    • I did change the CSS for navbox, which prompted the change you saw. Truth be told, the navbox class is slightly abused in this context, because archive boxes aren't navboxes. And I cannot forsee anything beyond that for which the code is ment for. I changed {{Collapse top}} by simply adding text-align:center; to it's header. You can make this change safely to any other archive box that may be affected. Edokter (talk) — 22:46, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
      • Thanks for looking into this. And I agree that the benefits of fixing the CSS for that template for the purposes you mention on the CSS talk page thread definitely outweigh the negatives (i.e., some relatively minor broken aesthetics). I agree, there's a fair amount of abuse of the navbox template going on, so when I get the chance I'll take a look at some of the other templates and see if there is something more elegant that can be done. Thanks again. --Kinu t/c 23:06, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

To: User:NawlinWiki, User:Salvio giuliano and User:Kinu

You are all admins. I'd like to point out what you did regarding Ozark outdoors. This was a poorly written article on a possibly notable subject (a medium-sized company that has existed for decades). It was written by User:Ozarkworld, a new editor who had done some research and written original copy on the subject. However, User:Ozarkworld was not aware wiki standards and rules. Here is what you did:

  1. User:NawlinWiki deleted the article without giving the creator any help with establishing notability despite User:Ozarkworld asking for help.
  2. User:Salvio giuliano gave User:Ozarkworld an indefinite block.
  3. When User:Ozarkworld appealed the ban giving a reasonable explanation for his or her username, User:Kinu declined the appeal because User:Ozarkworld also said something in the appeal that he didn't like.

Great work guys. Now rather than us having a new editor User:Ozarkworld has left wikipedia never to come back. Delete and block are not the only things admins are able to do. Sometimes you could try engaging with new editors who do not know the rules.

(PS. Dissent is permitted. Please don't block me) --Bucephalus (talk) 17:53, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

  • Your concern is noted. To be fair, however, when a user indicates that they do not wish to return, this is generally interpreted as not being a good faith unblock request. --Kinu t/c 06:50, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Robert Flynn
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

I noticed that you deleted substantial portions of my start of the article on San Antonio author Robert Flynn.

Namely: the photo from his author website, and a paragraph or two. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Robert_Flynn_%28author%29&diff=462459283&oldid=462459022

It's been a while ago since I looked at that article, but it seems to me that you removed a lot of factual information. What proof do you need to convince you that Robert Flynn approves of wikipedia's usage of his photo and his brief bio paragraph? Would it be sufficient for him to send you a one or two sentence email? Or would you prefer just to knock on his door in San Antonio? You can email me: idiotprogrammer at gmail.com

Incidentally, I was thinking of donating my CC photo of Robert Flynn to Wikipedia, http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjnagle/3068680039/in/set-72157610446577380, but it seems that if you are rejecting his promotional photo, you probably would still require a release from flynn himself (if you wanted to be a stickler). As I said, perhaps the best solution is for you to knock on his door and get his permission personally. --Robert J Nagle (talk) 06:35, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

  • It's not about being a "stickler" as you put it, but about Wikipedia's serious stance on copyright. Because the content on his website states that it is copyrighted, the only legitimate method for using it on Wikipedia would be as indicated at WP:DCM under the section "Granting us permission to copy material already online"; that is, the copyright notice needs to be modified to make it compatible with Wikipedia's licensing policies. I find your suggestion that I "knock on his door" to get permission unconstructive and unnecessary. As for your photo, since you indicate that it is a compatible license, I see no other issues with that. --Kinu t/c 00:10, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Dear Kinu

I'm typing to request you reconsider the deletion of the article "The Yogscast". I was terribly surprised to see that the greatest encyclopedia doesn't believe yogscast deserve recognition as one of the biggest youtube channels. Perhaps you don't believe such chanels have true significance in society but i say Yogscast is as part of my culture as any TV progam or series of books, it's an enjoyable aspect of my everyday life and is so for over 1 million others. I think it's very backward of wikipedia to ignore an internet identity on the grow especialy since wikapedia aso was born through the same media. Tt may seem goofy to you but ignoring us yognaughts from my point of view is not in the spirit of wikipedia.

Hello Kinu,

Thank you for looking at my edit of the Biometrics Wiki page. I realise now that I put my edit into the wrong section.

What I would ideally like to do is start a new section on Uses of Biometrics or similar. The current one entitled "Current, emerging and future applications of biometrics" doesn't really explain the different uses of biometrics (which includes fingerprint identification, anti-fraud, security etc) and the whole article doesn't flow very well. The section I tried to edit "Biometric functionality" contains a lot of information about biometrics uses so it seems muddled. I will try to do a longer edit that solves this problem as I don't think it's a very strong article on biometrics in the current form. MiloStewart--Milostewart (talk) 10:36, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm just informing you that I've modified some of your sock blocks a bit. I hope you don't mind. :) Elockid (Talk) 23:10, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Unblock on hold at User talk:Kat4PR
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

I'm having some difficulty seeing the rationalization behind this block. I don't understand what organization you think they were promoting, when and where edits problematic enough to justify a block were made, and what organization you believe the username represent. I searched their name and although I found it is a handle they use on numerous websites, I didn't find any organizations by that name. Some clarity on these issues would be very helpful in evaluating the unblock request. Thanks. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:48, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

  • I've responded on the user's talk page, but nonetheless I'll indicate here for the record that I wouldn't be averse to an unblock. --Kinu t/c 02:27, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Please help with Smugging and Sofalising

Hi Kinu, I hope you're well. I'd like to ask you for help with the two entries mentioned in the heading -smugging and sofalising. I think you are aware about my situation... Both of these entries have been proposed to be deleted. I've been waiting and hoping that the community would pick this up but nobody raised any complaint or express any opinion in the talk sections. If I don't do anything today or tomorrow morning, they will be deleted. What do you think I should do? Should I try and make them better...somehow? I think they are both balanced and properly referenced...I've seen entries with less references than these two before and they are still up. Please let me know, I'd really appreciate your guidance in this matter... Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kt1502 (talkcontribs) 19:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Page protection
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Hi Kinu, I'm just wondering about a page you recently protected. I notice your semi-protected SWAT because of edit warring and then blocked the IP involved. I was just wondering if that was the best course of action to take: it was not just the IP edit warring (Niteshift36 also broke 3RR), so only blocking him and not fully protecting the page seems to favour one side, especially since the issue of contention has not been discussed on the talk page since 2007. I didn't want to do anything without asking you first, but I'd be interested to hear your reasoning (and it may just be that I've missed something). Thanks. Press for Change

Hi Kinu, I see that you are the admin who deleted the page stub for the organisation Press for Change. I am a subject expert in this area, involved in recovering lost information about this important activist organisation which was responsible for (among other things) bringing about two acts of parliament protecting the rights of a small minority. I have prepared a fully referenced entry about the organisation but I wanted to check with you first whether to press ahead and simply create a new page or whether you could undelete the stub for me to build the content? Plainsense (talk) 06:00, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Update. Hi again Kinu. Since writing the above note this morning I see that, quite by coincidence, another editor has initiated a page for Press for Change. Please therefore disregard the above query. Note that I have suggested the copy I had in mind in the Talk page to the entry, so editors can choose independently what to use. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Plainsense (talkcontribs) 20:17, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Yogscast page

Hi Kinu

I've prepared a page for The Yogscast as a user page. I was wondering if you could take a look and let me know whether it, in your opinion, meets the community guidelines for inclusion. Here's the URL:

http://en.wikipedia.orgview_html.php?sq=Qlik&lang=&q=User:Bastawhiz/The_Yogscast

Any feedback is appreciated.

- bastawhiz — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bastawhiz (talkcontribs) 00:02, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

How about moving this draft to the incubator for now? There is also another draft version by Metalbunny. They can be merged together and further improved. This topic should be notable enough; there are up to 10 userfied pages on the Yogscast, and I think those links in the last section of the Talk page should be some good RS. - M0rphzone (talk) 01:51, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Any response to this? I'd like to think that a sufficient amount of work has been done in recent months to improve the quality of the references. With the funeded kickstarter project, the Bluexephos channel hitting one billion views, and the highly-publicized controversy, I should think that the Yogscast is certainly notable. What steps do we need to continue going through? --Matt (talk) 01:25, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Whoa hold on a second... I searched up "yogscast" and there are currently 2 reasonably written drafts. One is this one, and the other is the one by Metalbunny. I think you guys can work together to merge the two draft versions and hopefully meet the WP:RS requirements. - M0rphzone 01:38, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Update: The talk pages from both articles might be some help/have some good info: Bastawhiz's, Metalbunny's. - M0rphzone (talk) 02:05, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm all for a collaboration. I've been away from the wiki for the past month or two (or more) for various reasons, which is why I never got around to hitting the "submit article" button. In the meantime some more stuff has shown up I just haven't had the time to do a write-up off. I don't have much experience with the stricter qualifier requirements for en.wiki - I've only scarsely worked with da.wiki. So anything we can figure out to create a qualifying article together, I'm all for (that's what the wikipedia is about anyway, isn't it?).Metalbunny (talk) 22:28, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Kinu. I suppose it's always good to get confirmation from a checkuser before definitively declaring that someone is a sockpuppet. In this case it appears that the User:Dannyboy1209 2 account was created by an impersonator who thought it would be fun to get User:Dannyboy1209 in further trouble. I have corrected my mistaken block reason for this account; just wanted to give you a heads-up as well. Cheers, 28bytes (talk) 15:22, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Wisconsin Highways

Hi, an IP is adding markers to articles on Wisconsin Highways, like this here. Is the alright? I reverted one via Huggle, when I found out that it happened across several articles so I left it there. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 16:50, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

  • I would definitely say to revert those. They serve no purpose and are unsightly, and I'm sure they don't agree with any of the project's standards. --Kinu t/c 17:00, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Is it okay to use rollback or do I use Undo? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 18:06, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
I actually went ahead and used rollback on most of them (since "revert widespread edits" is a legitimate use) and left the IP a note on their talk page. If you find any that I've missed, feel free to take care of those as well. Thanks! --Kinu t/c 18:49, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, you're right. I didn't look at the category page to see the template. Ideally, the proper category should be called "Category:Texas Farm and Ranch to Market Roads" with caps as TxDOT treats these as proper nouns. Fortguy (talk) 21:14, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Per your comments on Talk:William Nordhaus regarding [6] you might keep in mind Lord Acton's "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Special:Contributions/Arthur Rubin is an "activist" Admin. The article Arthur Rubin may be helpful. I've found is his words perpetually disingenuous. He uses Talk pages for disruptive editing, including deleting what others write that have apparently nothing to do with him. I say "nothing" since wp:COI is likely at issue here. It is is difficult to build a better wikipedia with this behavior allowed. This maybe helpful found on wp:Tea. Best wishes. 99.181.128.177 (talk) 05:16, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

I see no relevant discussion regarding the material you wish to include, which should be discussed on said talk page anyway. --Kinu t/c 05:58, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
