My name is Wikipe-tan. Since 2003 I have functioned as a mascot for Wikipedia. Today I want to share a few words about our site and what you can do to help me ensure that it stays healthy. Wikipedia was created in 2001 as a not for profit, and its editors and contributors have worked hard to expand the encyclopedia to its current state. Our site has evolved and the editors have evolved with it, yet a fundamental truth remains: the Achilles Heel of the site is financing. We do not sell ads on site, so we are at the mercy of those who would donate to ensure that we can meet the needs placed upon us. Today I appeal to you make a donation. It doesn't have to big, it just needs to be made. Every little bit helps. In donating you will help us reach our goal of making the sum of all human knowledge available to everyone. Knowledge is power, and therefore the most powerful are they who are the most knowledgeable. Before you decide that you can not donate, why not take a look around and see if you find something you like here. I bet you will, we have a wide variety of articles to interest anybody.
