Veronica Somare (née Kaiap; born 1946), known as Lady Somare, is a former first lady of Papua New Guinea. Her husband, Sir Michael Somare, was the country's first prime minister and is known as the "father of the nation." Veronica Somare has been honoured for her own role in the establishment of Papua New Guinea and her position as the country's inaugural first lady.[1][2][3]
