This image shows WR 140 and its nebula with JWST Mid-Infrared Instrument, taken in July 2022. The nebula is formed by the binary and only the innermost shells were previously imaged with Keck in 1999/2001.[1]

WR 140 is a visually moderately bright Wolf–Rayet star placed within the spectroscopic binary star, SBC9 1232,[8] whose primary star is an evolved spectral class O4–5 star.[8] It is located in the constellation of Cygnus, lying in the sky at the centre of the triangle formed by Deneb, γ Cygni and δ Cygni.
