The Wa Self-Administered Division (Burmese: ဝ ကိုယ်ပိုင်အုပ်ချုပ်ခွင့်ရ တိုင်း [wa̰ kòbàɪɰ̃ ʔoʊʔtɕʰoʊʔ kʰwɪ̰ɰ̃ja̰ táɪɰ̃]; Chinese: 佤自治州, Wa Tzŭ-chih-chou) is a former De facto autonomous self-administered division in Myanmar (Burma). Its official name was announced by decree on 20 August 2010.[3]
The area was declared by Myanmar's government to be self-administered by the Wa people, but is de facto administered by the self-proclaimed Wa State, under the official name Wa Special Region 2.[4] Hopang and Pan Lon were directly controlled by the Tatmadaw until their transferral to the Wa State in January 2024.[1][5]
