Wakefield is a 2016 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Robin Swicord and starring Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner. It is based on the 2008 short story of the same name by E. L. Doctorow[2] published in The New Yorker, which was in turn inspired by the 1835 story of the same title by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
The film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on September 2, 2016 and was released in the United States on May 19, 2017.
