Washington Township, Nodaway County, Missouri

Washington Township is a township in southeastern Nodaway County, in the U.S. state of Missouri.[1] It contains about 47 sections.[2] Guilford, its only remaining community, lies west of center one mile east of the Platte River, and New Guilford once existed west of Guilford but by the early 1900s the two communities were not distinguished.

Washington Township was first organized in 1845[2] and was named after President George Washington.[3] The township was reduced in size in 1866 and again in 1871 to form Jefferson Township and Grant Township.[2]
