Werner A. Baum (1923–1999)[3] was the 2nd chancellor of University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (1973-1979)[4] and the 7th president of University of Rhode Island (1968-1973).[5] Baum was a meteorologist by training and served as the president of the American Meteorological Society from 1977 to 1978.[6]
