What Silence Knows is the debut solo album by English singer Shara Nelson, released in September 1993 on Cooltempo Records. It includes five singles which reached the UK Singles Chart: "Down That Road", "One Goodbye in Ten", "Inside Out", "Uptight" and "Nobody".[13] The album peaked at No. 22 on the UK Albums Chart[14] and was later certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry for sales in excess of 100,000 copies.[15]
The album was shortlisted for the 1994 Mercury Music Prize.[16]
