From October 2017 until November 2023, Wellcome Collection's Wikimedian in Residence became a full-time member of the Digital Editorial team. This followed on from Wellcome Library and Wikimedia UK's support of a freelance Wikimedian in Residence from May 2016 to October 2017. The WiR engages with librarians, members of the public, researchers and other organisations to encourage contributions to the development of Wikipedia articles and to make it easier to find and use useful content and information from Wellcome. The Digital Editor role continues the work of the Residency (and works on the Wellcome Collection website too).
