There is a very large articles backlog -
The articles backlog is growing very rapidly (↑763 since last week)
Barnstars are awarded to NPP reviewers after Backlog drives, as well as annually, for prolific but high quality patrolling, improving, tagging for deletion, tagging for issues, communicating with creators, etc. Reviewers who have respected WP:NPP guidelines, and not have bitten any newbies, are given barnstars and/or other awards, when specific conditions are reached.
