Students will be studying some of the ways in which the context and the form of an utterance interact to affect speaker's intended meaning beyond literal word meaning. Our main topics this term will include reference, deixis, implicature, presupposition, and speech acts.

Working to build up Wikipedia articles students will find, assess, cite, and contribute verifiable definitions and references in order to enhance wiki pages on designated topics in pragmatics and linguistics.
