I think the introduction should include that it's also known as Madras. Many people have never heard of Chennai but have of Madras; at school in The Netherlands we learn Madras, not Chennai. I don't understand why it's protected more than 2 weeks before it'll be on the mainpage, but I propose to change the lead to: Chennai, also known as Madras, is the capital of.... I presume there's some reason behind dropping "also known as Madras". If not, please include that. I could do that myself, but am waiting for the reason. "Also known as" lists don't make particularly good writing - they tend to make for choppy writing that doesn't flow well - so I exclude them from main page blurbs. Raul654 15:05, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
