William Bennett Chester was a Church of Ireland bishop [ 1] and author .[ 2] Educated at Trinity College, Dublin ,[ 3] he was ordained in 1848. After a curacy in Kilrush he held incumbencies at Killead , Kilkee , Ballymackey , Nenagh and Birr .[ 4] He was Chancellor then Archdeacon of Killaloe before his elevation to the episcopate [ 5] [ 6] in 1884.[ 7] He died in post[ 8] on 27 August 1893.[ 9]
