Winchester is an unincorporated community in Washakie County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 60 at the 2000 census, when it was a census-designated place (CDP). The area is named for the post office established by postmaster and local rancher R. S. Winchester.[3] Winchester objected to his name being used on the local railroad station, so the railroad named the station Chatham instead.
