Xie Xuan (謝玄) (343 – 8 February 388[1]), courtesy name Youdu (幼度), formally Duke Xianwu of Kangle (康樂獻武公), was a Jin Dynasty (266–420) general who is best known for repelling the Former Qin army at the Battle of Fei River, preventing the Former Qin emperor Fu Jiān from destroying Jin and uniting China.

  1. ^ Xie Xuan's biography in Book of Jin indicate that he was 46 (by East Asian reckoning) when he died. Vol.3 of Jinyang qiu indicate that he died on the bingwu day of the 1st month of the 13th year of the Tai'yuan era. This corresponds to 8 February 388 on the Julian calendar.
