Yaacob bin Abdul Latiff (1 February 1918[1][2] – 9 September 1985[3]) was the second Mayor of Kuala Lumpur,[4] Malaysia since it was officially conferred the status of the city on 16 May 1972. He served for a period of 8 years. On 1 November 1980, he was succeeded by Elyas Omar.[5]
His son, Ibrahim Yaacob is the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidates for Setiawangsa's parliamentary constituency during the 2008 General Election in Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory. He lost to the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Zulhasnan Rafique in the election.[citation needed]
