Dr. Zafar Mirza is a public health professional who served as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health in Pakistan. He was appointed by Prime Minister Imran Khan on April 23, 2019.[2] He is a founding member of Awaam Pakistan, a political party focused on structural reforms for human development. [3]
Dr. Mirza has extensive experience with the World Health Organization (WHO), having held positions in Geneva and Cairo, including team leader for Public Health, Innovation, and Intellectual Property, and Director of Health System Development.[4] He is currently a Professor of Health System & Population Health at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University[5] and works on strengthening Primary Health Care to advance Universal Health Coverage.[6]
